How VB Dagene engaged participants with an event app

The Client

VB is a nationwide plumbing supplier to the private and professional markets in Norway. Since 1995 the business, via its distribution channel, has been providing advice for organisations and individuals alike with customers ranging from large industrial building owners to members of the public.

Annually, the marketing and events team at VB organises what is proudly known as VB Days. The event was designed to empower high engagement, provide a place to discuss challenges and opportunities and plan the future. It is also a platform for partners and suppliers to showcase what they can offer and deliver. Around 1,000 VBers, partners and suppliers from all over the country gather to further their professional development, generate networking opportunities and inspire each other through thought leadership discussions at VB Days.

The key objectives of the event are to provide:

  • Networking opportunities for all attendees
  • Commercial opportunities for exhibitors
  • Collaboration and learning

The Challenge

VB wanted to use an event App for its 2022 VB Days event. This would be the first time the company has used an App for the event and the process needed to be easy to deploy offering high engagement for attendees, which would be paramount to justifying the implementation of the App. The business needed a company to help create and implement the App for the event.

The Solution

VB chose EventEye to create and deploy its first event App. The App was used to share information pre, during and post event between all attendees and exhibitors. Information such as exhibitor profiles was uploaded and viewable by attendees and the App housed all information for content being shared on VB Day 2022. The App also provided a full schedule of the event and an activity feed with push notifications for attendees.

VB used gamification to boost audience engagement and positioned around the event were QR codes which delegates could scan to gain points via the App. The most active user was awarded a gift card as a prize. A leaderboard was available within the App showing the leaders to drive engagement and spike even more activity. Push notifications were sent periodically to inform attendees of league positions.

The Result

The event App was deemed a huge success on several levels. Not only did the App play its part in meeting the pre-determined objectives of increasing engagement and networking but also provided some impressive statistics:

  • 64 % of users logged into the App
  • 1,165 total profiles were created
  • 7,683 QR-codes were scanned during the gamification
  • 51,356 page views of the event App were recorded
  • 338 individual posts in the activity feed of the App were posted
  • 569 private messages were sent between the participants

The numbers, considering it was the first event using the app, far outweighed the initial targets set. By deploying the technology the event saw a dramatic hike in conversations on all levels.
